Services for Mrs. HOOTMAN

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth HOOTMAN, 93, will be held Thursday, Dec. 3, 1981 at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds at 11 a.m.

A memorial service in Ogden was held Tuesday evening at the Carson Funeral Home at 8 p.m.

Mrs. HOOTMAN, a resident of Ogden Manor, died Monday, Nov. 30 at the Manor.

Elizabeth HOOTMAN was born June 18, 1888 in Nebraska, the daughter of A. Llewellen and Ida BIGGS.

She moved to Douds when a young girl, attended rural schools and Highland Park Academy in Des Moines. She taught school until her marriage.

She married H. Hovey HOOTMAN June 18, 1914 at Douds. Mr. Hootman was superintendent of schools and the couple taught at Bigelow, Minn., Marion, N.D., and Levering, Mich.

The couple returned to their home farm in the 1930's. Mr. HOOTMAN died in 1948. Mrs. HOOTMAN moved to Birmingham In 1948, was a resident of Ogden the last four years and a resident of the Manor for the past two years.

Mrs. HOOTMAN was a member of the Birmingham Presbyterian Women, the Van Buren County Chapter of DAR, and Van Buren County Historical Society.

Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Craig (Janet) BEER; and five grandchildren, Teresa LARSON of Ames, Alice McCOY of Atlanta, Ga., Steve BEER of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jim and Bonnie at home.
