PETERSON funeral Wednesday

IOWA CITY - Mabel E. PETERSON, 89, of Iowa City, died Sunday evening at the Lantern Park Care Center.

She was born April 2, 1896, in Harrington, Kan., the daughter of Frank W. and Amelia AUGUST LUNDQUIST. She married Carl G. PETERSON in Rock Island, Ill. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. PETERSON was a math and history teacher in Rolfe, Forest City and Iowa City high schools. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fairfield and the church's Ladies aid, Beta Chapter of Dames, the Smithsonian, a graduate of Parsons College in 1918, and an honor graduate at Parsons in 1968. She also did graduate studies at the University of Iowa. Her hobbies included traveling, reading and current events.

Mrs. PETERSON is survived by a son, John A. CRAWFORD of Iowa City; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, Carl and Arthur; and a sister, Cora.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Lingwall officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be Tuesday from 7-8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church.
