ANOTHER PASSES AWAY.

A Prominent Business Man and One of
Our Best Citizens.

Thursday morning about seven o'clock, Mr. W. F. McCarroll died at his home on West Second street after an illness of only a few days. The trouble was inflammation of the stomach and it was only the day before he died that his friends knew he was in a dangerous condition. Mr. McCarroll was 68 years old and has been a resident of Ottumwa since 1871 and of Wapello county since 1856. When he came to Ottumwa he engaged in the wholesale and retail hardware and stove business and has always been regarded as one of our most liberal minded and successful business men. Mr. McCarroll always had the happy faculty of making and retaining friends and was universally loved and respected by every resident of Wapello county. His sudden death was a shock to the community and his death will be seriously felt in both business and social circles. Mr. McCarroll leaves a wife and 6? children, all of whom are grown. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, from his late residence on West Second street and will be conducted by Mrs. Cora and L. V. Richmond, of Chicago.
