Workman Dies at 86
Birmingham Resident, Son of Pioneers, Had Been Member of Masonic Lodge 60 Years

Girard W. Workman, well known lifetime resident of northern Van Buren county, died at 12:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon at Birmingham following a heart attack suffered earlier in the day. He was 86 years old.
Mr. Workman was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Workman, pioneer residents of Van Buren county, and was born near the present site of Stockport.
He was married in 1875 to Miss Emma Huber, who died nine years ago. Two sons and a daughter also preceded him in death.
Surviving are three sons, Ralph and Fred of Birmingham and Rex of Fairfield, and three daughters, Mrs. Stella Archibald of Libertyville, Mrs. Maude Sherod of Keosauqua and Mrs. Mabel Hickey of Bloomfield.
Mr. Workman was a member of the Masonic Lodge more than 60 years.
Funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church in Birmingham at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon by the Rev. H.C. Irvine. Burial was at Maple Hill cemetery at Birmingham.
The Williams brothers quartet sang. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
