INGLE, JAMES, WILLSON, PAXTON

Mrs. C. W. James.

Lillie J. Ingle was born August 9, 1857, near LeRoy, Ill., and died January 23, 1912, being 54 years, 5 months, and 14 days of age.

She was married to C. W. James, July 6, 1875, and to this union were born four children: -- Mrs. J. A. Willson of Bonaparte; Mrs. J. G. Paxton of Colfax, Ill.; A. R. James of Sibley, Ill.; and Leura at home. Her entire life was spent in McLean county, Ill., until with her husband she took up her residence at Bonaparte a year ago.

In early life she became a Christian, being at that time a member of the Baptist church, later that she might enjoy the same church home as her husband and children she transferred her membership to the Methodist church of which she has been a faithful worker since.

Blest with the gift of enjoying only the true ennobling things of life she was a constant example of purity and sincerity to the family, and the host of friends which these characteristics always win.

She was truly a devoted wife and mother, her one desire during her illness being that she might recover to minister to her loved ones. Surely “She hath done what she could.”

Her final illness was brief though all winter she had been frail, following a severe attack of nerve and heart trouble. She attended her usual evening duties and retired. At 8:30 o’clock she was stricken with heart trouble and only remained conscious a few minutes sinking rapidly and peacefully into the sweet sleep that knows no sorrowful awakening; gone to meet her father, mother, and the cherished grandchild, Vivian, for whom she grieved with a mother’s love. Home will be vacant forever, but Heaven nearer and dearer.

Funeral services were held at the late home Thursday morning conducted by Rev. Ward, pastor of the M. E. church at Big Mound, assisted by Rev. Smith, pastor of the Baptist churches at Bonaparte and Harrisburg.

The remains were taken to Colfax, Ill., Friday for burial.
