Fred Roberts Dies in West

Former Keosauqua Druggist, Prominent Lodge Member Dies in Los Angeles, Calif.

Fred Hayen Roberts, 70, former Keosauquan, died at his home in Los Angeles, Calif. On November 24. He was born in Keosauqua, attended the Keosauqua schools and completed a course in pharmacy at Chicago. Later he owned and operated a drug store in Keosauqua.

In 1909 he and his wife, the former Mary Ann Smith, moved to Los Angeles, Calif.; where he operated a drug store many years.

At the time of his death he was a member of the California State Board of Pharmacy, which position he had held more that thirty years. He was prominent in Masonic circles and was a past commander of __ Chanan Commandery, Knights Templar at Keosauqua.

Surviving are his wife; three brothers, Frank W. Roberts of Riverside, Calif.; and Ralph S. Roberts of San Diego, Neil M. Roberts of Pasadena, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret R. McClurg and Mrs. Phyllis R., Overman of Keosauqua. He was preceded in death by two children, Smith Haven and Caroline.
Funeral services and burial were at Pomona, Calif.; November 27.
