William J. Cooksey
William J. Cooksey, 72, former Keosauqua barber, died at 11:05 a.m. Monday at his home in Libertyville. He became ill Sunday at his shop. He had been a barber at Libertyville the past 25 years.
He was born Sept. 9, 1876, at Lebanon in Van Buren county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Cooksey. He had been a barber for 50 years.
He married March 9, 1908, to Bertha Stine, who survives. He also leaves three daughters, Mrs. Merle Dougherty of Libertyville, Mrs. Clarence Denney of Batavia and Miss Ursula Cooksey, at home; three sons, William L. of Ottumwa, and Raymond D. and Merrill of Libertyville, and 14 grandchildren.
He was a member of the Keosauqua Methodist church.
Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, at the Behner funeral home in Fairfield with the Rev. L.M. Kirby on Libertyville officiating. Burial in Maple Hill cemetery at Birmingh
