Keosauqua Men Killed Tuesday

Charles Lazenby and Frank Caudill Die in Train -Auto Wreck

Charles Lazenby, 41 owner of the Lazenby Motor Company at Keosauqua, and his salesman, Frank Caudill 45, also of Keosauqua, were both killed instantly Tuesday morning when the car in which they were riding was struck by the Burlington gas-electric train at a highway crossing between Donnellson and Fort Madison.

The two men were en route to Fort Madison to look at a used car when the accident occurred. Both men were dead when the train crew reached them.

The bodies were taken to Fort Madison and later removed to the Burnett funeral home in Keosauqua.

Mr. Lazenby is survived by his wife, Opal; one son Francis, two sisters, Mrs. Hazen Blackburn of Keosauqua, and Mrs. Roy Griffiths of Cantril; a brother David Lazenby of Keosauqua and his father A.G. Lazenby of Cantril. His mother the former Anna Starr, died 16 years ago.

Mr. Caudill is survived by his wife and six children.

Funeral services for Mr. Lazenby , are scheduled for two o’clock this afternoon (Thursday) at the Methodist church in Keosauqua, with interment at Keosauqua.

Rites for Mr. Caudill will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Burnett funeral home in Keosauqua.
Burial will be at Bonaparte.
