Mary E. Fisher was born in Gainsboro, Virginia, on the 24th day of September, 1827, and died May 6th, 1916, at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 9 days. She was married to Thomas Fisher on the 10th day of March, 1846, in Clinton county, Ohio. To this union was born seven daughters and four sons. The father, three daughters and one son preceded her to the Better World. The following daughters and sons still survive: Ruth M. Maltbie and Anceline Lazenby of Keosauqua, Iowa; Emma Hoskin of Mt. Grove, Missouri; Jennie Connely of Montana, and Mattie Ridel of Washington; Milton Fisher of Lee county, Iowa; B. T. Fisher and E.C. Fisher of Cantril, Iowa.
She was a member of the church for a great number of years. Her funeral services were held in the Christian church Friday afternoon, May 5th, at 2 o’clock, by Elder Pettit assisted by Evangelist Holzschuh. Interment was made in Maple Grove cemetery.
