Ottis Lee was born March 7, 1884, in Clark County, Mo., and departed this life January 16, 1945, at the age of sixty years, ten months and nine days.
Ottis was one of twin sons born to Albert and Charlotte Sharpe Lee. He moved with his parents to Milton at the age of nine years and continued his life in and around Milton until the last two years when he moved to Fairfield. On November 8, 1908, he was married to Eva Miller, who survives. One son, Robert, was born to them and also survives, as does Betty Lee, his daughter-in-law and two grandchildren Judith and Roberta Lee. Mattie Lee is his only surviving sister. Also three nieces. Elizabeth Broadwell of Electra, Texas: Ruth Rogers of Hereford, Texas: Willa Beranek of Fairfield: [two nephews] Leland Lee of Dimmitt, Okla: Oscar Lee of Phoenix, Arizona. His parents, one sister and three brothers, including his twin brother, have preceded him in death.
Ottis’s complete generosity and neighborly spirit endeared him to all, and he knew no enemies.
He was a member of the Milton Methodist church and Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodge, later transferring his lodge memberships to Fairfield. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Milton at the time of his death.
Since Christmas Ottis had been gravely ill but clung bravely to the hope that he might once again rejoin his friends and continue his bright and active life.
His death leaves his sorrowing family and his many, many friends with a cherished memory.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Milton Thursday, January 18, at 2 o’clock conducted by the Rev. Russell Ellinger of Fairfield. Burial was in the Milton cemetery.
