Death of Peter Fichtenmueller

Peter Fichtenmueller died at his home on East Second Street of catarrh of the throat at 5:30 PM Feb 22nd. The deceased came to Oklahoma in the ever memorable year of 1889, from Farmington, Iowa and located in this city. He was a tinsmith by trade. When not engaged in working for others he engaged in building several houses for himself and leaves several valuable properties. He was an industrious, honest, kindhearted old gentleman much respected by all who had the pleasure of forming his acquaintance. He was a man of good habits and lent a helping hand to many less fortunate than himself.

His son, Albert M. arrived from Farmington, Iowa. His delay, owing to circumstances over which he had no control, prevented him from seeing his aged father until after death had claimed its own. The deceased was surrounded by a host of warm friends during his entire illness, who administered every comfort to a dying man that warm hearts and willing hands could contribute.

The son will take the remains of the deceased father to Iowa for interment.

The above was taken from The Daily Oklahoman. Mr. Fichtenmueller arrived with the body of his father, Saturday evening.

Peter Fichtenmueller was born in Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany June 10, 1838. He came to this country in 1865, and spent several years in different Eastern states. He was married to Miss Emma Mueller at St. Paul in 1869.

In 1876 he came to Farmington where he was engaged in the tinsmith and hardware business for 12 years.

He was the father of four children, all of whom were present at the funeral services which were held at the Congregational church last Sunday at 3:00 PM Rev G. C. Goodenough officiating. The relatives of the deceased have the sympathy of the community in their affliction.
