WILLITS.

On Sunday, May 7, at his residence in Willits, Iowa, of heart disease, Mr. Eli W. Willits, aged 54 yrs 6 mos. and 20 days. He was born in Wayne Co. Indiana, Oct. 17, 1838 and came to Iowa with his parents in 1842 and has since been a resident of this county. He purchased a farm of 280 acres in 1862 and when the C. B. and K. C. R. R. was built laid out the town of Willits. Several years later he opened a store which he conducted until his death. He was also Post Master. He leaves a wife and five children to mourn his loss. The funeral services were held at the Ward School House. Rev. C. W. Wilson of Ottumwa preached a very impressive sermon to a large and sympathizing assemblage of neighbors and friends. The remains were interred in the Thompson cemetery. Mr. Willit was an honest and upright man and was universally respected for his many good qualities.
