Robert Merle Nelson, born March 26, 1932 in Stockport, Iowa to Merle Nelson and Roberta Johnston, passed away on May 25, 2008 at Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Florida following a brief illness.

In 1950 Bob graduated from Stockport High School. He married Norma Ruth Brown in 1950 and from that union came five sons. Bob and Norma lived in Birmingham, Iowa between 1950 and 1951 while he worked as a welder in Keosauqua.

They moved to Burlington in 1952, where he worked on the Burlington Route and later as an assembler and a draftsman. Bob and Norma moved to Muscatine in 1957 where Bob worked at Stanley Engineering until 1969. In 1969 they returned to Burlington and divorced in 1973.

Bob married Imogene Heap in 1973 and continued working as a designer/draftsman in the Burlington area until 1982, when they moved to Ocoee, Florida. Imogene passed away in March 1987.

Bob married Deannie Allen of Ocoee, Florida in November 1987. In Florida Bob worked as a drafting supervisor until 1992 and as a consulting draftsman for the remainder of his career.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and shooting sports and was a lifelong member of the NRA. He was preceded in death by sisters Carol Lawson and Desda Smith.
Bob is survived by brothers Richard, of West Memphis, AR and Larry of Moreno Valley, CA and half brother Alan Mahon of Bloomfield, IA.

He was preceded in death by sons Ross and David and is survived by sons Douglas, Dennis, and Joel, as well as 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements were handled by Ocoee Family Funeral and Cremation Chapel.
His ashes were deposited in the family plot at Miller Chapel, Keosauqua, Iowa.
