Obituary of Del Story

Delbert Story, son of Frank and Lavina Story, was born near Chambersburg, Clark County, Missouri, November 10, 1870 and departed this life January 7, 1936 at the age of sixty-five years, two months, and twenty seven days.

Most of Mr. Story's life was spent in the vicinity of Chambersburg, Missouri. In 1910 he moved with his family to Farmington, Iowa where he continued to reside until his death.

On September 6, 1900 he was united in marriage to Maggie Neff at Kahoka, Missouri. To this union one son, J.C. Story was born. Mr. Story was a member of a family of twelve children. Six brothers, John, Irvin, George Story of Farmington, Homer of Stockport, Bert of Nauvoo, Illinois, and Harvey of Keokuk and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Peterie of Farmington and Mrs. Nellie Daniels of Fort Madison remain to mourn his departure. Two brothers, James and Otho Story and one sister, Mrs. Florence Nixon, preceded him in death. His faithful wife Maggie Story, on son, J.C. Story, two grandchildren, Zella Louise, and Delbert Eugene Story live to cherish his memory.

For a number of years Mr. Story engaged in the Bakery and also in the garage business in Farmington.

Two years ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis and from that time he has been in failing health. On March 1st 1935 he was again stricken and on Sunday morning Jan 5, 1936, he suffered the third stroke which ended in his death, Tuesday, January 7, at 7:50 pm.

Mr. Story was a patient sufferer, never complaining and always cheerful to the end, he has a host of friends and relatives who are grieved to hear of his passing.

The Rev. Harvey E. Butler conducted brief services at the home Friday, Jan. 10 at 2 pm and then services were held in Union Chapel at Acasto, Mo at 2:30 pm. He was laid to rest in the Acasto Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Russell Pool, Harp Van Zant, Ed Graham, Clarence Marsh, Fred Folker and J.C. Weaver.
