Martha Coffman, wife of Abraham Coffman, died of le grippe and heart failure at her home in the Chequest township, this county, on the 15 day of February, 1899. The deceased was born in this county on the 14 day of April, 1845, and was therefore 58 years, 10 months and 1 day old at the time of her death. Her maiden name was Roush. On the 11 day of October, 1866, she was married to Mr. Coffman. They were blessed with nine children, seven of whom with the husband and father survive to mourn the loss of a loving and devoted wife and a kind and tender-hearted mother. But their loss is her great gain. She was a true christian. She had been a worthy member of the Baptist church for the last twenty years. She had lived in the neighborhood where she died nearly all of her life and was held in high esteem by all who knew her, as the attendence at the funeral attested. The funeral was from the family residence at 11 o'clock a.m. the 17, conducted by Eld. T. A. Renfro. The remains were followed by many sympathizing relatives and friends and tenderly laid away in the cemetery near the Nida Pugh bridge on Chequest, there to await the great resurrection. May the Lord comfort the hearts of the bereaved.
