SARAH EMILY MATTOX
Sarah Emily Guess was born near Bonaparte, Iowa Sept. 27th 1854. She married Joseph Mattox in the autumn of 1875. No children were born to this union.
Emily Mattox was a faithful and loving wife. For fifty-seven years she shared the sorrows and joys of the little home.
A woman of few words, she was much appreciated by her friends and neighbors. Her dutiful life needed no words to explain it.
Left to mourn her passing are Joseph Mattox, her huband, two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Wells of Farmington and Mrs. Francis Findlay of Sycamore, Ill. and her brother Oliver Guess of Bonaparte. Four neices [sic], Mrs. Belle Reisner of Centerville, Inez Wells at home, Carol Wells of Detroit, Michigan and Mrs. Myrtle Cahill, two nephews George Wells of Farmington and Seth Thompson of Keokuk and other relatives living at a distance.
Mrs. Mattox has been an invalid for six years, but during the last four months has suffered intensely.
Her death was the result of a complication of diseases, including cancer, heart leakage, dropsy and asthma.
She passed away Tuesday Oct 25 1932 at 4:30 p.m. at her home.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the late home of the deceased in charge of Rev. Horace Ireland.
