Keosauqua Man Killed by Truck
Keosauqua—Ronald L. Harryman, 52, was killed Wednesday about 9 a.m., three miles north of Wellman on a Johnson County road, as he was standing by his car at the side of the roadway.
According to the Iowa Highway Patrol, Harryman had stopped his north bound car to ask direction from workmen installing telephone lines. He returned to his car and paused beside it to allow a northbound gravel truck to pass, but the truck struck him.
He was born Jan. 12, 1920, at Douds, to Bruce and Dora Belle Wolfe Harryman. He had lived in the Douds community until about a year ago when his home was destroyed by fire and he moved to Keosauqua. He formerly farmed and operated a bulldozer, and was employed as a livestock buyer by Farmers National Buying Service at Keosauqua.
On Dec. 22, 1943, he married Dorothy Sandy. She survives, as do two daughters, Mrs. Raymond Bequeaith of Cedar Rapids and Sheila Dawn at home; seven sons, Ronald E. of St. Louis, Richard L. of Douds, Roger Jo of Birmingham, Ray of Fairfield, Roy, Randall and Ryan, all at home; his parents; five grandchildren and one brother, Bruce L Jr. of Douds.
The service will be Saturday, 2 p.m., at Campbell Funeral Home in Eldon, conducted by the Rev. Gerald Caughron. Burial will be in the Leando Cemetery.
