Mrs. Swank
Mary Catherine Swank was born in Noble county, Ohio, Jan. 20, 1852, and died in Osborne county, Kansas, Dec. 18, 1905, aged 53 years, 10 months, 28 days. She removed while quite small with her parents to VanBuren county, Iowa. In the year 1872 she was married to Andrew J. Everest. Shortly after their marriage they started west, stopping in Missouri, then in eastern Kansas, and finally settling in 1879 in Osborne county, Kansas, where they have resided the greater part of their time since. To Mr. and Mrs. Everest were born seven children---Two sons and five daughters. One son and two daughters died in infancy. Three daughters died after they came to womanhood, and but one son Harry A. survives to mourn the loss of a mother. Mrs. Everest has been a constant suffer for the past six months, but during her illness she has been an example of patience and meek submission. She expressed a perfect confidence in God's power to keep her in life or in death, and to the last expressed that simple childlike faith which makes death so victorious. She leaves a husband, a son, three brothers and a multitude of friends, who have learned to love her,-- to mourn her loss. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, for they do rest from their labors and their works do follow them."Obit taken from the Osborne County Farmer Jan 11, 1906
Mrs (Swank) Everest is a sister to my great great granddad Ezekiel Swank, also a sister to Lee Swank of Cantril, Iowa. Would like to hear from anyone else that have family connections to her. Denise Higley north2alaska@kans.com
