Leo Wolfe
Leo Wolfe, son of David and Susanna Wolfe was born January 16, 1867 on a farm in Vernon Prairie in Van Buren County. He departed this life July 12, 1954 at the age of 87 years 5 months 26 days at the Jefferson county hospital in Fairfield, Iowa.
His mother died when he was a very young lad, he made his home with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Whiting Fellows on a farm southwest of Douds.
He was married to Sarah Wright January 19, 1888 who preceded him in death June 28, 1945.
To this union was born two daughters, Mrs. Emmett Morrow of Vista California and Mrs. Bruce Harryman of Ottumwa.
Mr. and Mrs. Wolfe celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1938. He was a member of the Methodist Church as a young man. He was a good husband and father and was highly respected by his neighbors and friends.
He lived a very useful life always keeping in mind the welfare of others and doing what he could do help.
He spent most of his life in Van Buren County and lived for a while in Fairfield and Ottumwa and Vista, California.
He leaves to mourn his death two daughters, four grandsons, Leo Morrow of Fairfield, Ralph Morrow of San Diego, California, Ronald and Bruce Harryman of Douds, and 14 grandchildren, one cousin, George Fellows, who is very active at the age of 92 and a host of friends.
