Milton- Leland C. Kinney, 68, died at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, on Friday evening, May 8, 1984 of a heart attack. He was born on April 15, 1916, in Scotland County, Missouri, the son of Chesley and Gertrude Bowman Kinney. He was a retired long-time filling station operator in Milton. He is survived by his wife, Velma Downing Kinney, one step-daughter, Lucille Gano of Keosauqua, one step-son, Billy E. Barnes of Anderson, Ind., six step-granchildren, eight step-great grandchildren, and one sister, Daisy Ayer of Milton. He was preceeded in death by his parents, one brother, Virgil, and an infant sister.
"Grandpa Leland" was a great favorite among the children in the family and of the town of Milton. He was always mild mannered and pleasant and willing to help anyone.
Services were held on Monday, May 21, at the Milton Christian Church with the Revs. Ed Poole and John Hulsizer officiating. Burial was at Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton. A memorial has been established to the Milton Heritage House. Arrangements were in charge of Priester Funeral Chapel in Milton.
