Died--March 26, 1888, Mrs. Harriet Agnes Whiteley, daughter of Wm. and Nancy Johnson, was born in Van Buren county March 31, 1839 aged 49 years lacking 5 days. She was married to Joseph W. Whiteley Aug. 18, 1878.
She made a profession of the christian religion, and united with the Presbyterian church of Bonaparte, May 3, 1885. Mrs. Whiteley was in almost every respect a model woman and from us she needs no words of praise.
To know her was to honor and respect her, whether in home, or out among friends and acquaintances, or in church. She was faithful in the performance of all required duties. She was loved and honored by her husband and step children, and her many relatives and friends--mentioned by them only in words of praise and sincerely mourned for by all when taken from them. As a professing christian she was sincere and faithful. When she gave her heart to her savior she said it was the happiest day of her life and as long as she lived, remained faithful to the trusts committed to her.
Her funeral took place from the family residence. the services were conducted by Rev. James Welch, who solemnized her marriage vows and under whose ministry she united with the church. He was assisted by Rev. H. C. Baldridge.
To the bereaved husband and other sorrowing friends do we extend our sympathy; and may we entertain the hope that they too may have the same faith and the same assurance of eternal life.
