---Some four years ago Mrs. T. B. Johnson of Bonaparte township, became afflicted with dropsy, from which she has since suffered. A few months ago it was discovered that an inward tumor had formed. It was then known that she could not recover until the tumor was taken out, and Dr. Hughes informed her that if it were taken out the chances of her living were only as one to ten. However, with wonderful courage, Mrs. Johnson determined to submit to an operation, and went to Keokuk and was operated on Saturday. The operation developed the presence of one large tumor and 25 smaller ones. But it was too late. Her vitality already was so reduced that an operation was too much to suffer, and she died on Tuesday night, the 25th. Mrs. Johnson was a daughter of J. F. Perkins, Esq., and died at an age when she should have been just at the meridian of life. She enjdured her long sickness uncomplainingly, and with great fortitude. Her death makes sad a very large circle of relatives and friends who have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
