VIOLA P. SAMUELSON

Viola P. Samuelson, 96, of Fairfield, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral was held Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Howard Innis officiating. Burial was at Eergreen Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First Church Of the Nazarene.

Mrs. Samuelson was born July 31, 1906, near Rome, Iowa, the daughter of John Elmer and Stella Hill Messer. She married Ernest V. Samuelson June 9, 1928, in the First Lutheran church parsol1age in Fairfield. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Samuelson lived most of her life in the Fairfield community. She graduated from Fairfield High School and attended Parsons College. She was a rural school teacher in the Jefferson County school system.

Mrs. Samuelson was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Samuelson of St. Paul, Minnesota, Melvin Samuelson and wife Liz of Muscatine and Gary Samuelson and wife Susan of Fairfield; two daughters, Helen Niederhuth and husband Ed of Stockport and Sharon James and husband Ed of Fairfield; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Gladys Willich of Davenport and Esther Dollins of Davenport.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, Frederick Samuelson; four brothers, Everett, Leonard, Glen and Clarence Samuelson; two sisters, Bessie and Grace; and one daughter-in-law, Jeanette.
