BIRMINGHAM - A. C. Minear, 93, died this morning at the Van Buren Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born July 1, 1873, at Kilbourn, the son of George and Emma Pearson Minear. Only nieces and nephews survive. Two brothers and two sisters, preceded him in death.

His lifetime interest was in education and YMCA work. After graduating from Iowa Wesleyan College and Northwestern University, he taught high school in Hiawatha, Kan., and Northern California. Before World War I, he was supervising principal of agriculture in the Los Angeles school system.

During World War I, he did educational work with service men in France under a YMCA program. Later he was in the math department at the University of Southern California. I Since retiring at his home near Kilbourn, he had been active in church groups, conservation work and in the Farm Bureau.

Service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Oak Grove Church with burial in Kilbourn cemetery. The body is at the Burch Funeral Home in Birmingham.
