DEATH OF S. B. PITTMAN

On April 14, at his home in Cantril, S. B. Pittman, father of Ex-Clerk of the Court E. F. Pittman, departed this life, aged 78 years. He was a gentleman held in high esteem by all who knew him and had resided in this county 35 years. He is survived by a wife and five children. The funeral was held Friday, the burial being at Cantril, Rev. Gilbert officating [sic]. An obituary will appear next week.

NOTE: The father of Edward F. Pittman was Stephen Bates "Doc" Pittman born 9 Nov 1831 in Laurel County, Kentucky and died 14 Apr 1909. Stephen's second wife and mother of Edward F. Pittman was Nancy Jane Douglass.
