OBITUARY OF MRS. S. B. SEIGLE
Sarah A. Louderbaugh was born in Bedford Co, Penn., May 1st, 1852, and passed to her reward at Kirksville, Mo., Aug. 26th, 1915, making her age 63 years, 3 months and 25 days.
On the 11th of May, 1868, she was united in marriage to Simon B. Seigle who survives her. In 1873 they moved to Iowa which since has been their home except two years spent in Missouri. She was left motherless at the age of three. Being denied motherhood her heart and home were ever open to the poor and friendless. Besides G. W. Seigle of Bonaparte, she adopted and tenderly cared for two daughters, little Eliza, who died in infancy, and Hadie, now Mrs. Winters. During her residence in Missouri her sister and husband died within a few weeks of each other leaving a family of eight boys. This devoted woman took charge of this family, finding a place in her great loving heart for each. Death claimed two of these boys and shortly after she returned to Iowa with the rest of the family. They are Roy, William, Cleveland, Simon, Edgar and Floyd Warrington, all of whom survive her. She is also survived by three brothers, Frank, Jacob and Clarence Louderbaugh and one sister, Mrs. S. B. Watts of Bentonsport. She early gave her heart to God and her faith in her Savior was always beautiful to see. The greater her suffering the stronger her faith. Hand in hand with her Savior her life radiated cheerfulness and comfort to all around her. She wanted to live for her loved ones, yet she was ready to go and was happy in the thought of one day being with her Savior. For eight years she suffered greatly, the last three years being an invalid. But even during the days of great suffering, she did not complain and by her patience and cheerfulness and her strong faith, she proved that she was sustained and comforted by her Heavenly Father that doeth all things well. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, even so saith the Spirit, for they rest from their labors and their works do follow them. The high esteem in which she was held was shown by the large audience of sympathizing friends and the many beautiful floral offerings. Funeral services were held at the church in Pittsburg, Aug. 29, conducted by Rev. Behrens, assisted by Rev. Brabbs, and the body was laid to rest in the Pittsburg cemetery by the side of her father.
