DEATH OF SAMUEL BURNS

Samuel Burns, a brother of James Burns of Keosauqua, died at his home in Des Moines township on Saturday, November 20, 1915. He would have been [can't read] years old on December 2. In 1873 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Huffman. To them were born four children, all living. They are John, at home; Mrs. Harriet Garrett and Mrs. Emma Daugherty, of Keosauqua, and Mrs. Lizzie Parker of Cantril. Besides these children, he is survived by his widow, ten grand children, two brothers and other relatives and many friends. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Behrens of Keosauqua, were held at the home on Monday afternoon, and burial was in the Prall cemetery. He was a quiet citizen who attended strictly to his own business. Hence he left many friends whose sympathy goes to the bereft widw and children.

Handwritten at top of obituary is "Keo Rep 25 Nov 1915" which must be the Keosauqua Republican newspaper.
