OBITUARY OF BARNETT BONAR

Barnett Bonar was born in Richland county, Ohio, Dec. 8, 1846, and died at his home in Jackson township, Oct. 29th, 1915, aged 68 years, 10 months and 21 days. He came to Van Buren county, Ia., with his parents in the fall of 1864. On Dec 1st, 1881, he was united in marriage to Annie E. Peacock. To this union were born Nellie E, Paul E., Mathew S., Clark P., Hazen B. and Esther I, also two grandchildren Mabel and Monte Hoskins all of whom with his loving wife survive. He also leaves to mourn two brothers, William of California, Scott of Bloomfield, three sisters Mrs. T. M. Dunshee of Chariton, Ia, Mrs. R. P. Bell and Mrs. J. W. Burchett of Milton and many other relatives and friends. He was converted when quite young and was united with the Presbyterian church at Troy, but later moved his membership to Lebanon, Iowa, haivng been brought up from childhood to attend the house of the Lord. He could say with the Psalmist, "I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord." Funeral services were held at the home on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. McMichan, pastor of Troy and Lebanon Presbysterian churches. Interment took place in Oak Point cemetery.
