Hon. Edwin Manning, the aged financier, merchant and farmer, the founder of Keosauqua, has laid down his burden and entered upon his rest. Death came peacefully and painlessly Friday Morning Aug. 15 at 5:40 o'clock. (Page 84)

(Please note: The obituary was cut off and the following was pasted into the scrapbook for a Mr. Manning which I do not know for sure is the same Edwin Manning as in the first clipping):

Mr. Manning was born in South coventry, Tolland county, Conn., February 8, 1810. He was a son of Calvin and Desire Gurley Manning who belonged to old New England families. They were the parents of two sons and two daughters, the subject of this sketch being the second in order of birth. The parents mere consistent and faithful members of the Congregational church and died(........)by
all who knew (..)em. (Page 80)
