ROY JAMES ALEXANDER

Roy James Alexander was born July 7, 1910, in Van Buren County, Iowa, the son of Emery and Gertie Cavitt Alexander. Here he grew to manhood.

He was educated in a one room country school and at Keosauqua High Schoool. He was a farmer by trade. During the Depression years he worked at the Boeing Airplane plant in Washington.

He was united in marriage to Harriet Miers, Febraury 7, 1944. To this union was born one daughter, Jane of Iowa City, Iowa.

He moved from Van Buren County to Greene County where he continued to farm. He retired to Jefferson after having a heart attack in 1970.

He had suffered from cancer for several months, which finally took his life on November 25, 1991, at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 19 days.

He leaves his wife, Harriett, daughter Jane, one sister, Grace Brewer of Galesburg, Illinois and one brother, Neal of Alpha, Illinois. He leaves nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

His body will be cremated and memorial services at a later date.
