OBITUARY
Violet Hortense, daughter of Wm. C. and Rebecca Fritz, was born near Upton, Iowa, April 23, 1890, and passed away at St. Joseph's hospital, Ottumwa, Iowa, on the morning of November 26, 1924, at the age of thirty-four years, seven months and three days.
At an early age she united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Upton, Iowa, which duties she loved and for a number of years was Sunday school and church organist at which she was both proficient and faithful.
She leaves to mourn her loss two brothers, Leonard of Cantril, Iowa, and Bertrum of Two Buttes, Colo. Her mother preceded her in death May 9, 1919 and her father March 20, 1921. Since their death she made her home with her brother Leonard and wife.
She has been in poor health for a number of months, and on November 20th submitted to a surgical operation. For a time it was thought that she would recover but on Sunday she began gradually to grow worse and on Wednesday morning she passed peacefully away.
We know she was prepared to go, leaving a letter stating all her funeral arrangements and plans.
Violet was of a quiet, unassuming disposition, loved her home and church and leaves a large circle of friends.
Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist church in Cantril, on Sunday afternoon, November 30, Rev. H. F. Gilbert preached the sermon and Rev. Warren conducted the services. A very large company of sorrowing friends were present.
