OBITUARY

Near the hour of 8 a. m., on Lord's Day morning, January 4th, 1925, the spirit of O. K. Harmon passed peacefully from this earth to that realm from which no traveler returns, to rest in peace with the Father who gave it. The deceased was born on January 15, 1849, on a farm in the vicinity of Egypt, grew to manhood in the same locality, and on Sept. 13, 1871, he was united in marriage with Miss Nora Palmer. To this union was born three children, Sam, of Ottumwa, Iowa, Al J., of Cantril, Iowa, who was with his mother all the time during the last sickness of the father, and Mrs. Lettie Daggett, of Los Angeles, Calif. These together with seven granchildren [sic] and seven great grandchildren, the relatives and a host of friends are left to mourn the loss of this good man.

When a baby two years of age, his father passed away, and then when only a lad of nine years, lost his devoted mother. After this he was given a home with his sister, Mrs. Allen Casady, and in the home of Uncle Allen and Aunt Betty Casady he was reared to manhood. Knox, as he was known by all, was ever ready and willing to lend the hand of friendship to all with whom he came in contact, kind and loving husband and father, and best of all the Chirstian [sic] character which made him the good man that he was. He gave himself to Christ 53 years ago, and became a charter member of the Cantril Christian church in the year of 1869, and remained a member of this church until he removed to Milton and brought his membership to the Christian church here, and remained a true, devoted, working member until the end, having served as deacon of the two churches covering a period of some 25 years. Disease settled itself upon him two or more years ago, however, he went about doing his daily tasks until about one year ago when he was forced to give up the active duties of life. During this last year he gradually failed until the Grim Reaper gathered in the ripened grain.
