OBITUARY

Ellen Lisetta Hardy was born near Keosauqua, Iowa, on April 16, 1858. On July 10, 1878, she was united in marriage with James Marshall Miller.

They spent nearly all of their married life in Mount Sterling, Iowa, and to the union were born four children, Cal J. Miller of Miami, Florida; Marshall Miller of San Francisco, California; Alena T. Miller, died in infancy; and Miretta Baer of Arkansas City, Kansas.

The husband passed away fourteen years ago, since which time, for ten years, the deceased lived in Wichita, Kansas. The last few months, during the late illness she lived with her daughter.

Mrs. Miller had been a woman who enjoyed good health and every possible effort was made to relieve her but her body could not resist the attack and she quietly passed away at six a. m. on June 30, 1925, at the age of sixty-seven years, two months and fourteen days.

Mrs. Miller, in her younger days, taught school for a number of years in this county. She was a faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal church. While she was president of the Laies Aid Society the new church was built at Mt. Sterling and she was tireless in her efforts to see the building completed and paid for. The pulpit Bible was a personal gift to the church.

The remains, accompanied by her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Baer, and their daughter, was brought back to the old home town, Mt. Sterling and the remains laid away in the Harness cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. H. F. Gilbert a former pastor, at the Methodist church in Mt. Sterling, at 10:30 a. m. on Thursday, July 2, 1925.
