Javis Todd, son of Wm. and Julia Todd, was born near Mt. Sterling, Iowa, on April 23, 1842.

Died on his farm southeast of Mt. Sterling in Folker township, Clark county, Mo., near where he had lived his entire life, April 30, 1928, aged 86 years and 7 days. The deceased was of a family of 12 children, two of whom still survive, Mrs. Susan Davis and Mrs. Bell Bowman of Mt. Sterling. He was married to Miss Marie Blackledge July 6, 1867. To this union seven children were born, all of whom have preceded him to the [great] beyond except one son, Samuel, who lived on the home farm and who cared faithully and patiently for his father in his declining years.

Some years after the death of his wife he was married to Mrs. Francis McManus. To this union one son was born, Champ Clark Todd, who still remains with his older half-brother to mourn the passing away of a kind and indulgent father. He was again bereft of his companion and leaves to mourn two sisters, two sons and two grandsons and other relatives and hosts of friends.
