ARTHUR ETSEL MARSHALL
Arthur Etsel Marshall, son of Josephine and Henry Marshall, was born Julary [sic] 5, 1897, near Ashton, Missouri, and passed away at the St. Joseph hospital in Ottumwa, Iowa, January 7, 1936, aged 38 years, 6 months and two days.
On December 31, 1924, he with his parents moved to Milton, Iowa, where "Slim," as he was familiarly called, made a host of friends, who will miss his cheery smile and friendly greeting.
On Sunday evening as he was returning home from church services, he met with an accident which resulted in his death two days later.
He was a member of the Milton Brotherhood and the Presbyterian church.
He leaves to mourn his death, his father, sister, Arelia, brother, Charlie, half-brother, Ed, all of Milton, and one half-sister, Mrs. Mae Lindburg, of Roseville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his mother on January 30, 1935, one sister and one brother.
Funeral services were held at the Burnett funeral home Friday afternoon in charge of Dr. L. B. Harmon; of Parsons college, Fairfield, pastor of the Milton Presbyterian church. A quartet composed bo F. E. Holland, D. A. Miler, Mrs. M. E. Atkins and Mrs. W. B. Sherwood, sang, "Does Jesus Care," and "Have Thine Own Way Lord," accompanied by Mrs. May Foster at the piano.
Pallbearers were members of the Milton Brotherhood, including D. B. McIntosh, E. H. Goessling, Homer Holt, E. S. Davis, Charles Cecil and O. H. Leaverton.
