OBITUARY OF MRS. WM. H. FORD

Frances H. Alexander was born Jan. 21, 1829, on Bass Land, an island in the Mississippi river near the Illinois shore. She with her parents moved first to eastern Missouri and later to Iowa, locating at Keosauqua, where she spent the rest of her life. She was married to Wm. H. Ford Nov. 26, 1846, at Keosauqua. Her companion passed away in 1899. Mrs. Ford lived to the good old age of 91 years, 8 months and 26 days. She was the mother of six children. Two died in infancy and four grew to adult age, their names being Henry S., Martha, Wm. S., Charles E., Oscar L. and Frank J. Quite early in life she espoused the christian faith. Like old Abraham she asked no other warrant than the word of God. One beautiful fact in her life was she made Christ and the church pre-eminent and first above all other things. Her friends numbered many and many are they to whom she ministered when they were in need. She was a life-long member of the M. E. church and no human or divine institution was so dear to her as the church. Funeral services, conducted by her pastor Rev. J. C. Caughlan, were held at the home Friday afternoon, Nov. 19. Burial was in the Oak Lawn cemetery.
