OBITUARY OF MRS. MARY STRICKLING

Mary Murphy, daughter of Thomas and Martha Jane Murphy, was born Jan. 21, 1854, near Farmington, Van Buren county, Iowa.

Dec. 3, 1878, she was united in marriage to Dr. Henry Strickling. This union was blessed with one daughter Jennie June. Mrs. Strickling made her home in Keosauqua until the year 1909, when being left a widow, she moved to the home of her daughter at Spokane, Washington. She departed this life July 4, 1926, at Spokane, aged 72 years, 5 months and 13 days.

She leaves one daughter, Mrs. June Ream of Spokane; one granddaughter Mrs. Irving W. Porter; one sister Mrs. Alice McIntosh of Des Moines, Iowa; four brothers, Will and Fred Murphy of Keosauqua; Allen of Brookpark, Minn.; Joseph A. of Nebraska; two stepdaughters, Mrs. J. M. Overman of Keosauqua, and Mrs. Lena Stewart of St. Louis and one stepson W. J. Strickling of Burlington, Iowa; besides other more distant relatives and a host of friends who knew her and loved her. Her memory will always be cherished by those who knew her as a loving wife, mother and friend and as a good woman.

In middle age she united with the Keosauqua Congregational church and remained faithful to her Master ever after, and has gone to receive His "Well done."

She was also a member of Lynds Chapter No. 27, order of Easter Star, Keosauqua, Iowa, a fellowship which she enjoyed and loved.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, July 10, at the Keosaudua [sic] Congregational church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Paul P. Jackson. Interment at Purdom cemetery. Lynds Chapter No. 27, O. E. S., conducted the services at the grave.
