He was united in marriage with Laura Brady April 11, 1880, at Independent, Van Buren county, Iowa, and to them were born two sons, Harlie A. of Oneida, Ill., and Dr. Frank E. of Decatur, Ill. His wife preceded him in death in May 1925.

He lived in Keosauqua the greater part of his life, having moved to Keokuk, Iowa, some twenty years ago for the purpose of educating his sons in the Keokuk Medical College and School of Pharmacy. After their graduation he and his wife moved to Burlington where they have since lived.

Mr. Strickling suffered a stroke of paralysis ten years ago from which he never fully recovered and on Jan. 4, 1927, another stroke proved fatal.

A short funeral service was conducted from the J. M. Overman residence Monday morning, Jan. 17, at eleven o'clock, by Rev. M. D. Cox of the Methodist church, and members of the Masonic order. Mrs. Price sang "Crossing the Bar," accompanied by Mrs. Dr. Craig. Interment was made in Purdom cemetery.
