E. Maxine Greenfield, 73, of Wellman, Iowa, formerly of Douds and Fairfield, died Saturday, January 11, 1997 at Washington County Hospital, Washington, Iowa, after a brief illness. She was born June 20, 1923 in Keosauqua to Daniel and Lena Wiley Cook. She attended schools in Keosauqua and Milton. She married Daniel C. Greenfield January 1, 1950 in Milton. He died May 12, 1982. They lived in Douds, Fairfield and Oklahoma. She had been a bookkeeper, cook and waitress in Fairfield and a cook in Vinita, Oklahoma. She retired in 1981 and later, lived briefly in Washington, D.C. and Las Vegas, Nevada. She had lived in Keota and the past two years at Parkview Manor in Wellman. She had been a member of Zion Bible Church near Douds and attended the Baptist Church in Wellman and had been a Cub Scout den mother in Douds.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Shirkey and her husband, Dan, of Wellman and Gloria Bradtke and her husband, Steve, of Columbia, Md.; six grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Paula Greenfield of Coweta, Oklahoma; two sisters, Marge Buccini of Lawrence Ks. and Mary Hunter, Milton; four brothers, Ned of Milton, Ia., William of Galesburg, Il, Larry of Keosauqua, Ia. and Kenneth of Ottumwa, Ia. She was preceeded in death by her parents, a son Danny, two brothers, Robert and Charles, and a sister, Betty Leydens.
Funeral services were Jan. 14, 1997 at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, Rev. Michael Mosier officiating. Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Douds.
