William B. Johnson

Bonaparte – William Benton Johnson, 72, Bonaparte, died Friday, Aug. 16, at 11:20 a.m. in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua. He had been ill since February.

He was born Oct. 16, 1901, in Custer County, Neb., the son of Leslie and Addie Mae Lindsay Johnson. He never married and he farmed in the Bonaparte area all his life. He moved to town in 1957.

Surviving are three brothers, Leslie Johnson of Petaluma, Calif., Joseph E. of Farmington and John L. of Burlington; two sisters Florence Darling of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Percy Lowe (Mary) of Bonaparte; a number of nieces and nephews.

One brother, Paul R., preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 18, at 2 p.m. in the Presbyterian Church, Bonaparte. The Rev. Scott Holmes officiated with interment in the Bonaparte Cemetery.
