Robert Edward Shobe, 72, of rural Milton, died July 31,2000 at his home. He was born Nov. 8, 1927, near Milton to George Edward and Mabel Kritzman Shobe. He married Dorothy Irene Miller Nov. 8,1954, at the Keosauqua Methodist Church. He was a life long farmer in the Troy-Milton area and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Milton Methodist Church, and a past commander of the Russell-Strait Post, No.483 American Legion,the Troy Saddle Club and had served on the Fox Valley school board. Surviving are his wife, four daughters, Betty Lathrop and her husband Tom of Columbia, Mo, Susan Mercer of Brighton, Shirley Petersma and her husband Steve of Keosauqua and Peggy Vannoy and her husband Doyle of Milton; 11 grandchildren, a great grandson; a sister, Helen Isabelle Hoy of Ottumwa; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elizabeth Blount. Funeral services were held Aug. 3,2000 at the Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua. Burial with military rites was at Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton.
