Edward H. Jones was born in Virginia July 7,1842 and died at his home near Mt. Sterling, Jan 7,1908, aged 65 years and six months. He was married to Mary M. Roupe Sept. 9,1866. To his union was born ten children, six of who have preceded him to the great beyond. Those living are Lissa A. Smith of Keosauqua and James V., Fred O., and Dora B. all of the parental home. His wife also survives him as with other relatives and friends. He was a loving father and husband and nothing that he could do for you was left undone. He was a good neighbor. During the war the rebellion he enlisted in his countrys cause serving in Co.H 19th of the Iowa Infantry. He saw three years of active service. Funeral services were conducted at the home with interment in the family burial ground near by.
