George Henry Mason.
George Henry Mason was born in Franklinville, N.Y., February 18, 1842, being a son of Louis J., and Nancy Mason and one of a family of fourteen children, eleven sons and three daughters. Three are now living.
He came to Bentonsport, Iowa, in 1857 but in a short time returned to Pennsylvania and engaged in business. After the close of the Civil war he returned to Bentonsport and engaged in business as an expert tinner, also kept a hotel.
He was first married in 1861 to Miss Rebecca Williamson and to them were born three children: -- Harry C., Nellie and William E. Mrs. Mason died May 20, 1898.
In 1893? he married Miss Isabel Malone and to this union two sons, George and Lloyd were born.
In 1888 he went to Davenport, Iowa, to be employed in the Government tinshop and he remained at that work until his death which occurred Tuesday, June 4, 1912, after a short illness.
He was a friendly man and had many friends, was generous to a fault, always hopeful and kind. He was planning to return to the old home at Bentonsport to spend his remaining years; but man proposes and God disposes. His remains were brought here for interment in the Bentonsport cemetery Thursday. Rev. T.L. Smith of Bonaparte making a short [remainder of article cut off]
