OBITUARY
Barbara Ellen Snider was born in Indiana August 20, 1840. She departed this life at her home April 21, 1921 age 80 years 8 months 1 day old. She was united in marriage to J. W. Seamster in the year 1860, who preceded her in death 9 years ago. To this union three children were born, one son and two daughters. One daughter passed away at the age of 13 years, the other, Mrs. Liza Groves, last August at the age of 54 years.
She came from Indiana with her parents to Schuyler county and then lived there until 1878. Then moving to Van Buren county, Iowa, and has resided at Milton, Iowa for the last twenty years. Her husband Uncle Jack, as he was known to all of us, was a pioneer Baptist minister and he and his good wife sacrificed much for the cause of Christ. She was converted when young and untied with the Baptist church at Fabius and connected in the faith until the end.
She leaves to mourn her departure one son, L. E. Seamster of McPherson county Kansas, one sister Mrs. Doll Rogers of Lancaster, Mo., one brother Tom Snider of California, six grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren, besides many relatives and friends.
The remains were brought to Fabius Church east of Lancaster, Mo., where funeral services were conducted by Rev. Thurman Andrews, after which the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery by the side of her husband. By request, this little rhyme is placed in the obituary.
“Remember friends as you pass by
As you are now, so once was I.
As I am now, as you must be,
Prepare for death, and follow me”We desire to express our heartfelt thanks to all who assisted during the sickness and at the death of the late Mrs. J. W. Seamster
