James V. Jones, son of Edward and Mary Jones, was born in Van Buren County near Mt. Sterling, on Sept. 14,1867, and died at the Iowa City Hospital, Nov. 13,1947, at the age 80 years, one month and 29 days. He had always lived in Van Buren County. He was united in marriage to Mary Rigsby, Dec. 19,1909. To this union was born one daughter, Ethel. His wife and daughter both preceded him in death. He leaves one brother, Fred Jones; two sisters, Lissa Drummond of Mt. Sterling and Dora Morris of Grand Junction, Co; two nieces and six nephews to mourn his death. He spent his recent years with Fred Jones and Eddie Miller, as his home. Funeral services were held at the Burnett Funeral Home, Keosauqua. Burial was in the Vernon Cemetery.
