Mrs. Mary Catherine Greene,daughter of George and Jane Rupe Zachau, was born Jan. 15,1881, near Douds and departed this life June 8,1968, at the Ottumwa Hospital, at the age of 87. On March 27,1901, she married Eddie L. Greene. Mr. Greene passed away in 1954. A daughter, a grandson, an infant brother and a sister all preceded her in death. Most of Mrs. Greene's life was spent in the Douds community. For the last 12 years she has made her home with her daughter, Dorothy Baird and grandson, John of Selma. Remaining to mourn her passing are her daughter Mrs. Baird, two sons Roscoe and Clarence both of Ottumwa; 5 grandchildren ,16 great grandchildren, a brother William Zachau of Cantril; two sisters, Margaret Zachau of Keosauqua and Mrs. Jennie Cole of Bonaparte; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held June 11,1968 at the Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds. interment was in the Leando Cemetery.
