BONAPARTE — Mary M. McComb, 75, of rural Bonaparte, departed this life at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009, at her home north of Bonaparte.She was born Jan. 30, 1934, in St. Louis, Mo., to Michael J. and Myrtle Price Gorman. She married John H. McComb Aug. 4, 1956, in St. Louis. Mary graduated from Roosevelt High School, St. Louis and attended University of Missouri, Columbia. She worked as a secretary with Harlan Bartholomew and Associates, St. Louis, a city planning company, prior to her marriage and had since been a homemaker. She and her husband lived in several locations while he was in the U.S. Navy, lived many years in Indianapolis, Ind., moved to Keosauqua in 1993 and to the family farm north of Bonaparte in 1996. She was a member of Keosauqua United Methodist Church, sang in the choir and was a member of United Methodist women, was a member of Town and Country Garden Club and Iowa Rose Society and had been a member of Chapter I, P.E.O., Keosauqua. Surviving are her husband and two daughters, Jennifer McComb of Richardson, Texas, and Terrie McComb of Aliso Viejo, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edward Gorman.Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, in Keosauqua United Methodist Church; Rev. Elsa Lawry officiating. Burial will be in Vale Cemetery north of Bonaparte. Visitation will open at 2 p.m. Sunday with family present 3-5 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua. Memorials to Keosauqua United Methodist women or Keosauqua Lions Club may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 18539 Route W40, Bonaparte, Iowa 52620.
