DIES UNEXPECTEDLYStockport – Mrs. Claude Edwards, 72, died unexpectedly at her home here Monday after she was stricken with a heart attack.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Catcott Funeral home in Birmingham, in charge of the Rev. Elmer Fritz, pastor of the Stockport Christian church. Burial was in Spencer cemetery.
Mrs. Edwards was born on a farm near Wooster in Jefferson county August 14, 1879, the daughter of Scott and Elizabeth Stewart Smith. She spent most of her life in Jefferson and Van Buren counties.
She was married to Claude Edwards January 17, 1901. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home here last January.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by her husband and two children: Elvin Edwards, near Stockport, and Mrs. Opal Johnston, Hedrick; two brothers, Harley Smith, Mt. Pleasant; Willis Smith, Fairfield; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Stockport Christian church.
