Died - At Winchester, Iowa, Nov 25th, 1885, of chronic bronchitis, Mrs Mary A. Bowers Workman, aged 63 years, 1 month, and 29 days.

Mrs. Workman was born in Huntingdon County, Pa., Sept 26, 1822. When 9 years old she moved with her parents to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she grew into womanhood.

December 12th, 1841, she was married to Mr. Richard Workman, at the home of Mr. Timothy Day, at Newton, Ohio, ten miles from Cincinnati, at whose home she and her husband were always received as welcome guests during the 44 years of their married life. In the following March she and her husband moved to Van Buren County, Iowa, where they have lived ever since.

She was followed to her last resting place by a large circle of friends, among whom were the oldest and most substantial families in our community, who seemed to realize that one more of their number had passed over the river to join those already gone before.

Mrs. Workman needs no eulogy with those who knew her, being the most highly esteemed and beloved by those who knew her best.

Among her many virtues was her truthfulness and frankness in all her relations in life. Kind to all, generous to a fault, her heart went out after every age and condition in life, and no one ever carried their sorrows or wants to Mrs. Workman who did not go away feeling that she was a true friend.

We have known her ourselves in sunshine and shadow, when life was joyful and the future looked bright, when sorrows came and our little household was broken up, and we always found her the same noble, patient, sympathizing friend.

She leaves a husband, Richard, and one son, Girard, to mourn her loss, and while we all feel that a friend has passed away, yet to her aged companion will come more than to all others, the sad reality that she is gone. She has stood by his side in all vicissitudes and changes of life, ever ready and willing to have her share of the burdens of life, and assist in building up a home that they might enjoy in the decline of life. But she is no more, "The silver chord is leased, the golden bowl is broken," and a faithful wife, a devoted mother and a noble friend has passed away.
