Josephine Elizabeth Hosette, 85, of 3000 W. Madison Ave.,Fairfield, Iowa, died at 8:50 p.m. Friday Dec. 17, 2004, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Dave Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Cemetery northeast of Stockport, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to SunnyBrook Assisted Living activities fund.

Miss Hosette was born Dec. 28, 1918, to Charles Louis and Mary Julia Droz Hosette on a farm 3 miles northwest of Stockport, Iowa.

She was raised in the Stockport area and graduated from Stockport High School in 1936.

Shortly after graduation, she went to cosmetology school in Ottumwa and worked in Keosauqua as a cosmetologist.

In the early 1940's she went to Arlington, Va., and was employed at the Pentagon for the U.S. Army during World War II and worked for the Federal Government until her retirement in 1973.

She was active in round and square dancing, and was a master bridge player. She also enjoyed traveling, family and friends.

She moved back to Fairfield in 1997 to be close to family.

Survivors include one nephew, Chuck Workman and wife Sharyn of Fairfield; and three nieces, Shirley Dick and husband Richard of Fairfield, Beverly Kinne of Omaha, Neb., and Jo Hosette of New York City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Verne, Bernard and Rollin Hosette; and two sisters, Bertha Stevens and Mary Louise Workman.
